Trust but verify “is a phrase that means to believe something is true while also making sure it's true. It can be used as a diplomatic principle, a management strategy, or a leadership principle. 

In leadership, trust but verify promotes empowerment and accountability. “

Never assume that someone did what was required or ask.  Trust the process, but verify the action. Otherwise, you may be left with egg on your face … which is not a good look!
