The phrase - "Raise the bar means to set a high standard, to raise expectations, to set higher goals. The expression is often used in a situation where someone's performance surpasses the performances of others by far." There is a tendency to - expect/want more or to push the envelope. If this happens, we may have bigger dreams. We also become highly motivated to maximize our potential! We may even achieve what we least expected. In the light of day … ain’t nothing wrong with that! Kudos! Celebrate your new accomplishments! The next time, you may even raise the bar a notch or two higher to reach another milestone. Yea! Go for it! Push yourself! Establish a realistic timeline to accelerate to your new aspired height! It is said that -Average leaders raise the bar on themselves; good leaders raise the bar for others; great leaders inspire others to raise their own-bar.”

What's in your backpack - emotionally? If it's anything like mine's, you're probably carrying around a lot. No wonder my shoulder aches from the weight! Sometimes, we don't realize how much is in that sack because it's so neatly packed. But my, oh my, try emptying it. You may be carrying your stuff and that of others. Ouch! Anxiety, worry, frustrations … are contained inside. Don't fret. Your bag also contains joy, happiness, accomplishments … too. We just have to stay on guard and emotionally work hard to make sure that we regularly clean out and unpack our backpack by removing and letting go of stuff that should be released. If we don't, that cute little backpack becomes too heavy to carry. Balance is so critical to our emotional health and viability. We have all been there with those heavy weighted burdens. Having them may be a way of life, removing them is our responsibility, even if the task is hard!. Sometimes, stuff and people have to go! Their removal may be extremely hard (no one said that it was easy), but the load will be lighter!

We want to be the best that we can be. Agreed? There is a process to our journey toward maximizing our potential. Here are 7 ways to do so:

  1. Know Your Purpose. …

  2. Be Disciplined. …

  3. Be Passionate. …

  4. Communicate and Listen. …

  5. Leverage Others. …

  6. Let Others Lead. …

  7. Take Care of Yourself.

If those 7 doesn’t work, here are seven more. 1. Remind yourself of the big picture. 2. Create a plan. 3. Treat time like gold.

4. Become the most positive person you know. 5. Do one thing at a time.

6. Don’t forget to rest.

7. Make life simpler. Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day. So, let’s get started because "the unwillingness to try is worse than any failure."
