”Hair Love” is a 2019 American animated short film that follows the story of a man who must do his daughter's hair for the first time. Written and directed by a Black cast, This film won an Oscar for best animated short film. Recently, I watched my son brushing his daughter’s hair and the sight brought back decade old memories of my late husband doing our daughter's hair. He completed the task, but oh my … what a sight! Let's just say that her braids were not neatly lined up! So for so many memorable reasons, this movie is a delight to watch!

Generally speaking, there are Three Basic Types of People. Ironically, we are driven toward classifying everything. We often use the number three as a benchmark. Three things are easy to remember. We can memorize and recite those off the top of our heads. The number three symbolizes a harmony that includes and synthesizes two opposites. Therefore, let me share the widely accepted categories given to the types of people and of course, there are three! 1. First, there are people who make things happen. Then there are people who watch things happen. Lastly, there are people who ask, what happened? 2. There are Givers, Takers, and Watchers. It should come as no surprise that the most successful and least successful are Givers. 3. Continuing, there are those who helped you, left you, and/or put you in difficult times. Three basic types in three primary categories essentially boil down to one thing – Who will be by your side and unconditionally love you through your ups and downs; through thick and thin? Like magnets, we naturally attract the type of individuals similar to us. So, it begs to ask - What category best describes you? It takes one to know one! Turn the mirror. Look beyond others; look at yourself. When and will you fix what is broken on you? Do you acknowledge your deficiencies? It is easier to change you than them! Thank goodness, you have more than 3 times to get it right … as you realize that all missteps in the wrong direction may cost you … probably more than thrice. Photo credit: www.facebook.com

Father's Day is a special calendar day dedicated to the love, respect, and honor of our Fathers. What a blessings to those whose Fathers are alive … as this day can also be a day of sadness for those whose Fathers have gone home to be with the Lord! As I lost my Daddy in my early twenties, I understand the emptiness that this day brings, but I am immensely grateful for his many teachings. His wisdom and my memories of him are very much alive. I cannot begin to tell you how many times, his words have directed me. So although my Daddy no longer walks this earth, the valuable lessons that he taught me guide me still. There have been days that his arms have emotionally carried me and encouraged me to courageously take that next step. He may be absent in the flesh, but he is forever present in my heart. Yes, he most definitely is my rock and I lean on what he taught me!

Love, honor, respect, and bless your Daddies today and all days. Shower him with love while the blood runs warm in his body! Remember this - Good old Dad is watching your every move with a stern eye of protection - whether he is physically sitting across from you or spiritually gazing you from the Heavens. Happy Sunday! Blessings!
