Growing up, I remember hearing my Mother say, "Charge it to my head, not my heart."

Translated simply, it means that a person will not always remember certain key things and/or that a person gets busy and just forgets. You can substitute the word blame for charge to get a clearer definition. The phrase is a term of endearment in that the mind may forget, but the heart remembers. So when I error and make mistakes (particularly forgetting something that I should remember - (i.e. birthdays), charge it to my head, not my heart. Please bear with me and remember this! In my heart, you are precious, but sometimes because of the heaviness of my days, I simply forgot the occasion, but do know this - I didn’t forget you! I accept the blame for my oversights, recognize my human errors, and ask the people that I love and who love me for understanding. I ask you to charge it to my head - not my heart!

Make today count! Each day is unique. When people say, “Live life to the fullest,” it’s great advice. The day will only last for that day. When it’s gone, it’s gone! Value those precious moments, because we can do many things, but we can’t stop the clock from ticking. Live, love, enjoy ...every moment.

Today is Mother's Day; a day that we thank our Mothers for the so many sacrifices, caring, and unconditional love that they have given us from their womb throughout our lives. For those of you whose Mothers are living - treasure them; show daily love. For those of you whose Mothers are no longer with you - cherish her memories; store them in your heart! Sadly, my Mother went home several years ago to be with the Lord. Though she no longer walks this earth, I am here to tell you that she is with me in spirit! She has become like the "footprint in the sand," as her spirit emotionally carries me when I'm weak. It's amazing how much and how often I feel her spiritual presence. It's further amazing how often I speak and write about her. Her teachings guide me still! Her wisdom and her words have become immortalized in the fiber of my very soul. A couple of weeks ago, I dealt with a challenge that seemed for a moment insurmountable. When my Mother was alive, she was always my first "go to" person to seek advice as I would asked, "Momma, what should I do?" As I reflected, suddenly her words, guidance, and admonition appeared in my mind out of nowhere saying, "Baby, pray about it. Turn it over to the Lord. If you gonna pray, don't worry. If you gonna worry, don't pray." What an incredible woman! She was for sure the virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31. She was/is the Queen of my heart! Thank you Momma for everything! Words can never express how much I love you and how much I miss you - as you gave your all … unconditionally! Rest in Peace.
