Let me take you home with this expression of old - “You’re now cooking with gas!”

Do you remember hearing that one?

The phrase is a great one! It means that you are functioning particularly effectively; achieving something substantial. In other words, you’ve switched to a more suitable or more efficient approach.

Using our time efficiently and effectively should be our desired results. Let’s get busy and work to achieve the desires of our heart! Now the questions become - Are you currently cooking with gas? Are you operating at a substantial level to achieve optimal results? If not, no time is better than the present! Photo credit: bu.edu

The African Proverb - If you escaped from the lion's den, why go back for your hat has a thought provoking meaning. Think about it!. “In the pursuit of our dreams, we must make conscious efforts not to allow petty things to distract or derail us from the path of success. We must understand that some things are simply irreplaceable. A hat can be replaced but life cannot. Don't confuse a brave act with a brainless act. If you have managed to overcome a big challenge, why chase after little things that will lead you back to that dangerous path? Second chances are not always present. That's why we must optimize the chances that we get” as we exercise good judgment; minimize risks; maximize opportunities! A hint to the wise is very simple - Don’t go back if you successfully got out!

Do you talk too much? That’s the question of the decade. Here’s a simple fact - When you talk too much, you don't listen. You only hear your own voice. That in itself is dangerous. You can learn more from others than from yourself,” but you have to stop talking to hear what they’re saying...Too much talking

can be a problem. Walt Disney famous quote was, “Stop talking and start doing.” My Mother’s quote was even better, “God gave you one mouth and two ears. So that should tell you something. Listen twice as much as you talk.” Wise words; Great advice; I’ll say! As I am very sociable, talking is on my radar of favorite things to do. I love being around people and being engaged. As I have matured in age, I have learned to listen more and be more discerning with what I say to whom. We must be selective and careful with out words. That small tongue can cause a lot of big trouble. Once the words leave your mouth, you can’t take them back. As the old folks in Mississippi would say “Don’t be a motor mouth. Shut up sometimes Close that trap before it traps you!” Those old fashioned colloquial words definitely - bring the point home and sit it at your door steps!
