Have you ever asked a simple question and it took the person forever and a day to provide the answer and/or the answer that was given left you more perplexed or confused? Join the club if this has happened to you! It stands to reason as personified by the Chinese proverb - The longer the explanation, the bigger the lie!

If a person is giving an elaborate & complex explanation (when the answer is quite simple), their response may be questionable. Further, it may need to be discounted, because you know that the truth may not be in the details; not at all!. It is for that reason that we recognize that the lips that speak may not always tell the simple truth!

We remember James Baldwin as a prolific, talented, and incredible writer whose words could magically capture your attention as you turned the pages. That he was! He was also a tireless civil rights activist who through his rhetoric could stir a crowd. For sure, based upon the social injustices that our country has faced this year, we need a change. We need to show more love than hate. To make change, it must first be faced. Let's rise to make the world a better place for us, our children, and future generations. What a reward that would be!

This expression, "I can't put my finger on it" - means to not be able to say/distinguish exactly what is wrong or different about a particular situation. Perhaps like you, I have found myself using that phrase, more often than not. I may see or hear something that doesn't look or feel right, but at that point in time, I may not have a clue to what it is. Like most things in life, time always tell. The cream always rises to the top. That instinctive feeling which led me to say, "I can't put my fingers on it" will one day become crystal clear. Then I will say, " Ah ha. I knew that it was something that didn’t add up; something that didn’t make sense.” Listen to your gut! It always sensibly talk to you. It always confirms what your pointed finger suspected!
