Doesn’t that doggie look so adorable? He is the cutest thing! His alluring appearance reminds me of some folks that a few of us considered – confidantes! We could tell them anything or so we thought. Close your mouth for a moment. Let me tell you something… 1. Protect your secrets; 2. Guard your words; 3. Be selective about who you tell what to … It’s only common sense. I’m sure that you have heard this advice before – time and time again. I have! Of course, we don’t always listen. If someone tells you other folks business, they’ll tell yours! It doesn’t take rocket scientist intelligence to figure that out; it’s plain and simple. You are not exempted from gossip particularly from a person who can't keep their mouth closed. Don’t assume that their behavior will change – just because it’s you! They took the liberties to put your business out in the streets because you provided the ammunition! You told them! Because you let your guards down, your information is now freely circulating through the universe for all ears to hear! Why would they be discreet? They could care less. Did you forget? They are bona fide gossipers. Besides it’s your business; not theirs!

It never fails. If a dog brings a bone, he'll take one! Photo credit: rover.com

Generally speaking, there are Three Basic Types of People. Ironically, we are driven toward classifying everything. We often use the number three as a benchmark. Three things are easy to remember. We can memorize and recite those off the top of our heads. The number three symbolizes a harmony that includes and synthesizes two opposites. Therefore, let me share the widely accepted categories given to the types of people and of course, there are three! 1. First, there are people who make things happen. Then there are people who watch things happen. Lastly, there are people who ask, what happened? 2. There are Givers, Takers, and Watchers. It should come as no surprise that the most successful and least successful are Givers. 3. Continuing, there are those who helped you, left you, and/or put you in difficult times. Three basic types in three primary categories essentially boil down to one thing – Who will be by your side and unconditionally love you through your ups and downs; through thick and thin? Like magnets, we naturally attract the type of individuals similar to us. So, it begs to ask - What category best describes you? It takes one to know one! Turn the mirror. Look beyond others; look at yourself. When and will you fix what is broken on you? Do you acknowledge your deficiencies? It is easier to change you than them! Thank goodness, you have more than 3 times to get it right … as you realize that all missteps in the wrong direction may cost you … probably more than thrice. Photo credit: www.facebook.com

Feeling lonely in a crowd is nothing new. Many have felt the isolation. Worse than being alone is expecting the presence of someone who should be by your side, but they are no where to be found! Being a "crowd pleaser" is in many respects no longer vogue. The man who follows the crowd will not get any farther than the crowd. So what’s the catch? Is it better to be lonely alone than to be lonely in a crowd? It takes nothing to stand in a crowd. It takes a lot to stand alone. Do you really need people who magically disappear like Harry Houdini? What they do is just enough to be politically correct but not enough to be emotionally supportive.

Are your expectations wishful thinking or reality based? Stop! Don’t answer! And please don’t have a pity party. Stop exaggerating others’ worth when it’s not visible. Get with the program of knowing who’s who and who is not (in your life). The chameleons show up regularly and without notice. But is an appointment necessary for disappointments? Eventually, you’ll wise up. You will discover the folks who talk out of both sides of their mouth very elegantly. You will know exactly where you stand, where they stand, and how close their proximity is to yours? If during the process, you suffer from bouts of loneliness, hopefully you will eventually come to the greatest understanding in your life; a visibility that unlocks the mystery door. You’ll never alone as long as you have the Lord! Photo credit: www.youtube.com
