THE COMFORT OF THE SERENITY PRAYER

By Vernalee

Somewhere in time, I am sure that you have heard or recited the Serenity Prayer. "God, grant me the serenity to accept the things that I cannot change; Courage to change the things that I can and Wisdom to know the difference."

The Serenity Prayer continues: “Living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever in the next.” Amen. With this prayer, we realize that: Acceptance is not laziness. Hardships present opportunities for growth and learning. It takes courage to change. Surrendering is an act of faith and trust. Happiness is attainable and can be claimed as yours. Serenity, courage, and wisdom are “comfort food” for our souls!

We all need to hear these refreshing words from time to time. They help us with adjustments to everyday life occurrences.

Happy Sunday!
