YOU CAN’T BE WHAT YOU CAN’T SEE

By Vernalee

Marian Wright Edelman, the founder and president emerita of the Children's Defense Fund was indeed an adamant civil rights and children activist. One of her famous quotes, “You can’t be what you can’t see” is significantly important for children of color. They need to see physicians, attorneys, CEO’s, entrepreneurs, and other representative occupations whose skin color is like theirs. The benefit is immeasurable. By doing so, they will know that they can achieve that status if they work hard. After all, seeing is believing!
