Narcissism is defined as “excessive interest in or admiration of oneself and one's physical appearance. The term Narcissism originated from Greek mythology. Narcissus fell in love with his own reflection in a pool of water. According to the tale, Narcissus "lay gazing enraptured into the pool, hour after hour," drowned, and finally changed into a flower that bears his name.“
Narcissism can certainly be dangerous. Keeping a balanced view and perspective is essential to our staying grounded. An excessive reflection on ourselves is not healthy. Being self absorbed forces you to miss the beauty of others because you are too tuned in to yourself. That unhealthy view is one that we don’t need as it equates to a careless disregard for others. It is not and should never be all about you. “It is not your world!” It is a world that you live in and share with others! Photo Credit: bcsyngroup.com
