PLAYED LIKE A FIDDLE

By Vernalee

The fiddle makes an incredible harmonic sound that can cause some people to dance up a storm. Speaking of fiddles, why do we always put a twist on words that changes the meaning? One such phrase is “play (someone) like a fiddle.” Translated, this means to

easily and deftly manipulate someone to suit one's own needs, ends, or benefits. Question -Have you ever been “played like a fiddle?“ Some of us have! Before you respond, think back. Think twice. Think hard. If you have been played, (it happens to the best of us), the goal is not to be played again! When you accomplish that feat, your music sounds better and reach greater heights than the ones who instituted the play! Now, that’s music to our ears!
